Underscored by violins

I have often wondered about underscoring in movies. The mundane lives of people like you and me do not get operatic background music; our sorrow does not get an Ilayaraja and our joy does not get a Rahman. A little to my delight, this practical attitude was proven wrong recently. During a discussion-gone-awry at home, when tempers and decibel levels rose and raged, the dynamic violinist living downstairs decided to practise his craft. For every word spoken, the wail of the violin surged and fell, in perfect harmony with the milieu. I was in my own movie! 🙂
